![]() » Record Thanksgiving Week Ridership Across New York State...Amtrak has announced that they carried a new record 704,446 passengers nationwide over the seven day Thanksgiving week travel period this year, up 2.7% from 2009. Here in NYS, there were gains across the board also, as noted below:
The limited number of additional cars utilized on NYS trains over the week helped support these increases. In addition, the west of Albany trains benefited from the ongoing pricing strategy which discourages local New York City to Albany travel on these trains. However, as MANY trains were sold out over the seven day period, the ridership numbers could have been MUCH higher if there had been even more cars added and extra trains operated!
